Rule of the month.......
SHORT PASS
(i) On the court: at the moment the ball is passed there must be room for a third player to move between the 'extended ' hands of the thrower and the 'extended' hands of the receiver.
(ii) At the throw in at the moment the ball is passed, there must be room on the court for a third player to move between the 'extended' hands of the thrower and 'extended' hands of the receiver.
Centre Visit
Netball North Regional Panel members Binnie O'Neill, Katherine Kidd and Leah Lazarus along with Sharon Fraser visited to the Whangarei Netball Centre during June. Six umpires were observed over the weekend of the 23rd of June, with progression made towards attaining their Regional badge . It was a successful weekend with a total of 11 Umpires observed from Centre level through to Regional level.
Sharon Fraser also made a Centre visit to the Bay of Islands, where coaching of fours Umpires was carried out with the progression towards Junior and Centre badges.
Grassroots
Sharon Fraser, Umpire Development Officer is responsible for developing our Umpires in Schools/Clubs, working in conjunction with Umpire Co-ordinators within Netball Centres. Sharon visits Netball Centres all over our Region at least 3 times a year.
Sharon is also available to 'service' schools outside of Netball Centres, by running workshops and theory classes for Student Umpires and Parents.

Bench Officials
Judith Downer is the 2010 Netball North Bench Officials Convenor. Judith works very hard in a volunteer capacity alongside Netball North Bench Officials who officiate at the Super 12 Competition, Lois Muir Challenge, National Championships and ANZ Championship games.
